Yesterday I was able to visit Sewanee and Chattanooga. At Sewanee, I got to visit and drink some coffee with Andrew Nevin, Chris Vaughan, and Shelby Bartlett. Afterwards, the Martin family hosted a showing at their home in Chattanooga. What a great town! Their street looks over the river and it was absolutely gorgeous. Benjamin and Joseph are looking forward to another great summer at Rockmont and they have even gotten some friends to join them as well. It was great visiting with Joe B. (Ben and Joseph’s dad and a long time Rockmont-er) and sharing our camp memories.

Last night I was at the Seaman’s house in Knoxville, TN. TJ and his parents, Leigh and Matt, were great hosts. TJ went to camp last year and is working on getting some other buddies to join him this year. Leigh made some great food and even gave me a few sandwiches for the road. Overall, a great night indeed.

Greetings! We just got back from an awesome show at the Ferachi’s home. The Ferachi family includes Cameron, Christopher, Keegan, Kennedy, Carter, Camille, several dogs, a few cats and even a pet snake. They did a great job of inviting their friends and spreading the word on the good things happening at Camp Rockmont.

We had a great few days visiting with staff from Mississippi State University and Ole Miss.
Thomas Sellers showed us around MSU’s campus, took us to lunch and introduced us to some potential staffers.
After that, we were able to visit with Heath Capps, Stanton Blaylock and Brandon Archer while eating at Philip’s Grocery in Oxford, Mississippi. It’s always great to fellowship with staff all over the country.

Cody, a long time Rockmonter, did a great job of getting the word out to some of his buddies from school. They even made a “Rockmont Rocks” cake to commemorate the evening. It was great visiting with the Buschards and several other families. We didn’t just talk about camping, either. We lived it in the backyard by making smores.

This show was the first of a ten day road trip for me and Dan through Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana. We were joined by local Rockmont veterans Taylor (counselor) and Michael (long-time camper/staff) as we visited with Parker and his family. We enjoyed some impromptu singing of “The Tree Song” but decided we couldn’t stop there. That’s right, folks, we also sang “Baby Shark.” Overall, it was a great show here in Birmingham and the Garrisons were gracious hosts.

I just got back from a showing in Columbus, GA, where the Johnson family was eager to host a show. Tom and his posse of buddies are geared up for another exciting summer at camp and we were also able to talk with several new families about the Rockmont community. Tom is doing a great job of getting the word out and he is even recruiting his younger brothers, Jack and Philip, to be future Rockmonters. I took a wonderful picture that captured the exuberance of the evening, but the lighting was off and it didn’t turn out well. Trust me, though, it was great.

Bert Ellison and I just got back from Aiken, SC and a wonderful camp showing in the home of Sumter Sessoms. Sumter is 100% ready to return to camp and almost tried to return with us as a stow away! He had a great group of friends that he and his family have told about Camp Rockmont and we enjoyed meeting them and their parents. This was actually an historic showing in that it included the debut of our new camp brochure. In fact, since Bert and I actually picked the box of brochures up from the printer en route to the showing, Sumter Sessoms is the first Rockmont camper to ever see this brochure! Let us know if you want to get a copy to share with a friend.
